Abu Dhabi .. prohibiting the practice of mining digital currencies on farms

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority emphasized the prohibition of digital currency mining on farms, because it falls outside the framework of the economic activities set by the authority and allowed to practice it on agricultural lands.

This confirmation comes in light of the violating practices monitored by the authority in some farms that are used in mining digital currencies in a way that contradicts the basic purpose of the use of farms, which is limited to agricultural and animal activities specified in the legislation in force.

The authority announced the liberation of a number of violations of farm owners or its tenants, due to the use of the farm in mining digital currencies, which negatively affects agricultural sustainability and biological security.

The authority introduced a deterrent and strict administrative fines for the violator, as it was decided to implement a fine of 100,000 dirhams, which are doubled in the event of repetition, stopping the services and all support programs provided by the authority to the owner of the farm, cutting the electrical current from the farm, in addition to reserving the tools, equipment and devices used in mining operations, and referring them to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures in accordance with the applicable legislation.

The authority renewed the invitation of the owners of farms and workers in the agricultural sector, both vegetable and animal, to avoid engaging in these practices that are outside the scope of plant and animal activities on the farms set by the authority, to contradict these activities with agricultural sustainability policies.
