Abu Dhabi Police has warned of the danger of violating the preoccupation using the phone while driving, considering that it is the most dangerous violation on the roads, noting that the driver busy the phone is exhibited for traffic accidents at a rate of four times the driver under the influence of anesthetic or alcohol, according to a specialized traffic study.

In detail, the Director of the Simulation and Traffic Promotion Branch in the Abu Dhabi Police, the pioneer engineer, Mohamed Hamad Al -Eisaei, stressed that the biggest danger on the roads is the driver’s preoccupation with the phone while driving, as one of the reliable international traffic studies between the driver under the influence of drugs, alcohol and driver busy the phone or anything else about the road, and found that the latter is four times more vulnerable to the driver who drives a vehicle under the influence of the drug or Alcohol, while he is eight times more likely to have an accident than the normal person while driving the vehicle.

Al -Eisaei pointed out that the results of this study show the danger of preoccupation with the phone while driving, and that it is a major cause of accidents not only in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, but also at the world level, as the driver loses while using the phone completely focused, is busy with his surroundings, and loses the ability to take a reaction while driving what he signs in the accident.

Al -Eisaei spoke through the recent line program, which was recently shown on the Abu Dhabi channel about the role of the Abu Dhabi Police strategy, field patrols, artificial intelligence and media awareness in road security.

He stated that the Abu Dhabi Police strategy in the road security is renewed, and it changes every five years according to the variables that occur in the traffic safety sector, highlighting the mechanism of dealing with communications, where the operating room is responsible for the distribution of patrols in the roads, and the accidents are received, whether by the amount or by monitoring them through the cameras scattered on the roads of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the nearest patrol is sent through the existing tracking system In the operating room, according to the severity of the accident, a patrol or two patrols are sent, and sometimes other assisting bodies such as ambulance and civil defense are sent to the accident site, and the time period between receiving the communication and the arrival of patrols is registered to measure the patrol response index to traffic reports, as well as for criminal communications.

He pointed out that the Abu Dhabi Police has developed techniques for monitoring drivers’ violations and dangerous behaviors using artificial intelligence, explaining that the Abu Dhabi Police started since 2021 the application of new systems that monitor the violations of the seat belt and use the phone, using artificial intelligence technologies, where the cameras can distinguish between a person who does not have to connect the seat belt or who uses the phone while driving, and based on these algorithms these violations are released.

Al -Eisaei stressed that the violation of the non -connection of the seat belt and the use of the phone while driving are considered one of the most dangerous violations, pointing to a study that worked on it, indicating that 80% of the injured in traffic accidents were not committed to connecting the seat belt at the time of the accident.

He stressed that the application of this system in monitoring the violation of the non -connection of the belt can contribute to enhancing the commitment of drivers to connect the seat belt and reduce the effects of traffic accidents, and the decline in the rate of injury or death due to traffic accidents.

The emirate of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi witnessed last year the occurrence of six incidents due to the concern of the road while driving the vehicle using the phone, and 510 other incidents due to the concern of the road while driving in any way, according to the statistics of the Ministry of Interior.

The Federal Traffic and Traffic Law determined the penalty for violating the road while driving the vehicle using the phone or in any way in the fine of 800 dirhams and 4 traffic points.

She urged the necessity not to be busy with the road, and the full focus while driving to avoid the surprises of the road, which enhances attention and behavior in a timely manner and safely, explaining that the lack of attention in this situation in particular may cause traffic accidents that often lead to deaths and severe injuries as well as exposure to legal accountability.
