The Anti -Fraud Center in the General Administration of Investigations and Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police has warned the members of the community of the increasing fake ads spread through social media, and some electronic platforms that claim to provide partial job opportunities and seductive salaries.
In conjunction with the month of awareness of cybersecurity, Dubai police emphasized that “these suspicious ads are only a means that the fraudsters use to lure the victims and exploit them in illegal activities, such as opening bank accounts with the names of the victims, transferring unknown money, or carrying out work related to other fraudulent crimes.”
The center called on members of the community to be careful, verify the declared bodies before applying for any job presented on the communication sites or electronic platforms, and not to share their personal or banking data with unknown parties, and to stay away from any offer that requests to transfer money or use personal account data, in addition to immediate reporting of suspicious ads via the ECRIME application or by calling (901).
Dubai Police stressed that the public’s awareness is the first line of defense in the face of the fraudulent, to avoid a victim of these advertisements, which may be subjected to legal accountability due to fraud that take advantage of their personal data.
