Appointment of a new director of Zayed University and President for Strategic Affairs
ABU DHABI, October 7/ WAM/ Zayed University announced the appointment of Professor Dr. Kevin Richard Hall as director of the university, as of the first of November 2025, and Dr. Mona Abdel Hakim, Chinese as head of strategic affairs in an important step towards promoting academic excellence, expanding the research impact, and raising the efficiency of institutional performance, while the university leads a new stage of growth and development, and continues to contribute to achieving national priorities.
Dr. Hall is one of the prominent academic leaders in the world, has extensive experience in higher education institutions based on scientific research, where he held the position of Director and Vice President of Victoria University in Canada, one of the most prominent public research universities in North America, and also held the position of Vice President and Deputy Director at Newcastle University in Australia.
On this occasion, His Excellency Shamma Bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Empowerment and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed University, stressed the importance of these appointments in the university’s march, and said: “This announcement represents an important station in the march of Zayed University where Dr. Kevin Hall has a busy record in academic leadership and research excellence, while Dr. Mona Chinese embodies an inspiring model for national leaders that lead the strategic innovation in the education sector The higher will contribute this harmony in leadership between international experience and the national vision in consolidating the university’s position as a leading academic institution at the state and the region.
Dr. Hall expressed his happiness to join Zayed University, saying: “I am honored to take over the leadership of Zayed University, this ancient institution with distinguished academic heritage and the ambitious vision of the future.
As for Dr. Mona Abdel Hakim, the Chinese, who joined the university in 2021 as director of the management of the strategy and the foresight of the future, she had an effective role in drawing features of the strategic direction of Zayed University, by supporting institutional innovation, consolidating a culture of cooperation, and enhancing the integration of plans and programs with the future state agenda. In her new position, she will take over the leadership of the university’s strategic development and implement its plans in close cooperation with the Board of Trustees, in a way that ensures the university’s continued career in providing distinguished education, empowering students, caring for national competencies, and effective contribution to community service and the progress of the country.
Zayed University is one of the most prominent academic institutions in the region, as it recently received the largest student batch in its history of 2,949 male and female students for the academic year 2025/2026.
