Nahyan bin Mubarak launches the second session of the competition "Our heritage in words"

Abu Dhabi, October 12 / WAM / Yesterday, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sandooq Al Watan, launched the second session of the “Our Heritage in Words” competition, which is a creative writing competition organized by Sandooq Al Watan in cooperation with the national identity clubs in the country’s universities and schools.
The competition aims to deepen pride in national identity, and make it an important field for creativity, innovation, initiative, and the discovery of distinguished sons and daughters of the Emirates in various branches of knowledge, especially in literature, stories, poetry, and business management, which highlight the talents and capabilities of the youth of this nation, and crystallize the slogan of Sandooq Al Watan, which is “a strong and sustainable national identity, whose pillars are empowerment, productivity, and responsibility.”
His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan stressed that the volume of participation in the first session of the competition and the successes it achieved proved that it had begun to continue and increase in momentum and maturity, indicating that it is considered one of the successful achievements and projects undertaken by the National Identity Clubs in schools, colleges and universities, which made great efforts to bring the competition to all schools, colleges and universities, which work with Sandooq Al Watan, and contributed seriously. In the success of the national identity clubs there, he expressed his pride in the competence and initiative demonstrated by the male and female students of these schools and universities.
He added that the “Our Heritage in Words” competition, in its second session, will focus on members of national identity clubs in Emirati schools and universities, and will open the door for students of all schools and universities to participate in it, as it is a distinguished platform for enhancing the spirit of creativity and innovation among the nation’s youth, and discovering distinguished Emirati talents that embody the commitment of the sons and daughters of the Emirates to preserving the national heritage, and developing it in a modern spirit that is in line with the future aspirations of the nation.
His Excellency explained that empowering young people, qualifying them, and investing their energies for the benefit of their future and the future of their dear homeland is one of the most important priorities of work at the Al Watan Fund, and it also serves as a fundamental pillar within the UAE’s comprehensive development vision, stressing that youth are always at the heart of the priorities of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, as they are the strength, energy, ambition, and true wealth of the nation, and a fundamental pillar of development.
His Excellency concluded by saying that the competition comes within the framework of Sandooq Al Watan’s vision to establish a strong and sustainable national identity, based on the pillars of empowerment, productivity, and responsibility, and reflects the commitment of the young generation to the values and traditions of Emirati society, and their contribution to enriching the national cultural scene, indicating that the competition seeks to motivate the younger generations to be inspired by national and heritage values and transform them into creative works that contribute to enhancing Loyalty and belonging to the homeland, stressing that the competition represents a living embodiment of the call of His Highness the President of the State, may God protect him, who stresses the importance for the world to see our pride in our authentic identity, and for the values established in our society to be a continuous symbol of ours, and for this message to reach the future generations of sons and daughters of the Emirates.
On the other hand, Sandooq Al Watan confirmed that the “Our Heritage in Words” competition, which was designated for students only, revolves around the fact that the responsibility of preserving the national identity and Emirati culture is the responsibility of every individual living on the land of the Emirates, and is evidence of good citizenship, belonging and loyalty to this country.
He explained that the competition includes students writing a story whose topic is related to the Emirati identity or any aspect of it within several specific topics that include: the tangible heritage, which includes buildings, historical places, monuments, and museums, and the intangible heritage, which includes behaviors, practices, perceptions, forms of expression, knowledge, and skills such as traditional festivals, epics, customs, ways of living, and crafts, and the history of the Emirates and its rise. The Union, in addition to the Emirati values “Emirati Sanaa” and the values of tolerance, empathy, global understanding, belonging and active participation in civic life in the footsteps and approach of the founding father, volunteerism, the spirit of altruism and community service that are deeply rooted in the legacy of Sheikh Zayed, as well as the future of the country and “future aspirations.”
The conditions of the competition, according to the Fund, include that participation be based on the idea of “Emirati heritage and culture,” that the work must be original, that is, written and created by the student, that the story be written in classical Arabic and include some vocabulary and structures in the Emirati dialect, or dialogues in the “Emirati Ramsa,” that the characteristics of literary art be taken into account in it, that it include drawings that support the ideas of the story, and that the story must not contain I participated in another competition during the same period, and the contestant must not have previously won this work, and the student must adhere to the number of words specified in writing the story according to each age group.
