Al-Mushaiti added: Based on the Kingdom’s belief in the importance of integrated and sustainable water management as one of the pillars of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and in response to this urgent need, and with the aim of raising efficiency, it restructured the water sector, It created the competitive and legislative environment, established transparent governance and an integrated institutional system, and was keen to involve the private sector.
He continued: The main buyer, the Saudi Water Partnership Company, today manages a portfolio worth more than 47 billion riyals, and its daily production reaches about 10 million cubic meters of desalinated water, and 600 thousand cubic meters of treated wastewater.
In addition to Moreover, it has adopted modern technologies for desalination production plants that have contributed to improving efficiency by 70% and reducing costs by 50%, using international best practices and adopting an innovation approach.

Adopting integrated water management

Al-Mushaiti pointed out that the reality of the water sector today puts us in front of great responsibilities and challenges present in our region and in many regions of the world, which include the effects of climate change and growth. Accelerating population growth, the risks of increasing stress on natural resources, and the decline of groundwater reserves, which requires concerted efforts through adopting integrated water management, modern technologies and innovation approaches, building institutional frameworks that are characterized by transparency and effective governance for all water services chain, and developing environmentally friendly water production projects that rely on renewable energy sources and reuse in a sustainable manner.

Investing in modern solutions

The Deputy Minister of Environment explained that the Kingdom will continue its efforts in cooperation with everyone by investing in modern, green solutions, business intelligence, and building platforms for discussion, as the Kingdom took the initiative to establish a platform to discuss water issues during its presidency of the G20 summit in the Kingdom in 2020, by launching initiatives such as "Saudi Water Week"and"Prince Sultan International Water Award"
In addition to strengthening joint work through the World Water Organization, headquartered in Riyadh, and other initiatives in an effort to transform water issues from a challenge into an opportunity to achieve prosperity and development.

World Water Forum

Al-Mushaiti extended an invitation to participate in the 11th World Water Forum in 2027, which will be hosted by Riyadh and organized by the World Water Council, and will be a prominent station for the global water community, and an important opportunity. For the region to highlight excellence and solidarity on the international scene, to work jointly to confront global water challenges, promote sustainable solutions for future generations, and launch constructive initiatives that support water security, sustainable development, and growth and prosperity for all peoples of the world.
