Korea’s exports decreased by 15.2% during the first ten days of October

SEOUL, October 13, 2017: Exports in the Republic of Korea decreased by 15.2% during the first ten days of this October.

The Korean news agency Yonhap reported that the value of outbound shipments amounted to 13 billion US dollars during the period from the first to the 10th of this October, compared to 15.3 billion dollars during the same period of the previous year, according to data from the Korean Customs Service issued today, Monday.

Despite the overall decline, average daily exports rose by 33.2% year-on-year, according to the data, while imports fell by 22.8% year-on-year to reach $13.5 billion during this period, resulting in a trade deficit of $500 million.

In September, exports rose 12.7% from a year earlier to reach $65.95 billion, supported by strong demand for semiconductors, hitting an all-time high for the first time in three and a half years.
