"Abu Dhabi Arabic Language" Approves shortlists for award "Generation treasure"

ABU DHABI, October 13 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, affiliated with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, today announced the short lists for the fourth session of the “Treasure of the Generation” Award, which it launched to celebrate Nabati poetic works and revive the heritage related to Nabati poetry and its authentic values, in addition to folklore studies, research related to it, and others.
During its meeting, the award’s Supreme Committee, headed by journalist and writer Ali Obaid Al Hameli, approved the list of works nominated to win, which included 17 works, from nine Arab and foreign countries, in four main branches, in preparation for selecting the winners of its fourth session at the next Board of Trustees meeting.
Six works were selected in the “Arts” branch, three works in the “Poetic Publications” branch, five works in the “Poetic Competition” branch, and three works in the “Studies and Research” branch, while the “Translation” branch was blocked for this year. This was after reviewing the arbitrators’ reports by the members of the committee, who are: Dr. Hamda Al-Hammadi, Director of the Arabic Language and Literature Department at the Ministry of Culture, the prominent journalist and novelist Dr. Shaker Nouri, the poet Obaid bin Qathlan Al-Mazrouei, Dr. Abdullah bin Ghalis, the prominent writer and academic in the Gulf region, and the writer and researcher Walid Alaeddin, in his capacity as rapporteur.
In its session this year, the award received 830 entries distributed across its six branches, from 35 countries, including 19 Arab countries, recording a growth of 38% compared to the previous session, which attracted 601 nominations, which reflects the growing confidence in the award and its advanced position on the map of specialized literary awards, and also consolidates the presence of Emirati culture in the space of Nabati poetry, Arab and international.
The works nominated for the shortlist include nine countries: the Emirates, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, and Oman, in addition to Britain. They were chosen based on the extent to which they meet the criteria for the award and their connection to the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” to provide inspiration for future generations and strengthen their connection to their culture and heritage. Especially since the name of the award was inspired by one of his immortal poems.
