The United Nations welcomes the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza

In a press statement issued on Monday, Guterres urged all parties to build on this momentum and fulfill their obligations under the ceasefire to end the nightmare in Gaza.

The Secretary-General said that the United Nations is working to support all efforts to end the conflict in Gaza and alleviate the suffering of civilians.

From Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt, where he is attending the peace summit, the Secretary-General called this morning Israeli President Isaac Herzog to welcome the release of the remaining living Israeli hostages in Gaza.

Guterres noted his many meetings with families of victims and survivors, where he listened to their unbearable pain.
