"Alibaba Cloud": The openness and diversity of the UAE market is key to global investments

Dubai, October 15 / WAM / Eric Wan, Vice President of Alibaba Cloud International, and General Manager of the Middle East, Turkey and Central Asia Region, confirmed that the UAE market is characterized by its openness and diversity, which makes it an ideal environment for major international companies to invest and work side by side with local and global partners.
In a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, during the GITEX Global 2025 events, Wan said that the diversity of the UAE market makes it an attractive destination for large cloud service providers. Economic and legislative openness constitute a supportive environment for investment in cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence, noting that the UAE pursues clear and transparent policies that encourage innovation and investment, in addition to its position as a global commercial center linking East and West.
He added that the UAE and the region represent one of the world’s fastest growing markets in the field of cloud services and artificial intelligence, noting that the company considers the regional market a key strategic market for its global investments and expansions.
He added: “The importance of the region’s markets and the UAE market motivates us to continue investing and working with our local partners and customers to develop talent and enable different sectors to benefit from Alibaba’s cloud infrastructure and our artificial intelligence products and technologies.”
He explained that this trend reflects the company’s deep commitment to the region, and that the launch of the second data center in Dubai and the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding with local partners comes within this framework.
Regarding the relationship of artificial intelligence with cloud infrastructure, Wan said that artificial intelligence is the future of data centers, and that Alibaba has moved from being a traditional cloud service provider to a comprehensive provider of artificial intelligence services around the world, especially since technologies based on artificial intelligence, including large language models, help organizations reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience.
He said that the company signed several new memorandums of understanding at GITEX with institutions operating in various sectors, and announced a number of partnerships in the sectors of finance, healthcare, gaming, media, and the Internet, noting that these agreements come within the company’s strategy to strengthen its partnerships in the region and expand its presence, in order to serve more than 100 clients in the Emirati market.
