American scientists create a vaccine that gives protective immunity against cancer

A team of scientists from the American University of Massachusetts Amherst has created a new experimental vaccine that grants protective immunity against cancer before it appears or spreads, in a scientific achievement that the medical community described as “miraculous.”

The vaccine relies on tiny nanoparticles made of fatty molecules that contain two adjuvant substances that enhance the body’s immune response. Laboratory experiments have shown promising results, as a percentage of up to (88%) of the mice that received the vaccine remained free of tumors, depending on the type of cancer.

In another experiment, the results showed that (80%) of the mice that received the vaccine consisting of nanoparticles with an immune-stimulating antigen survived for (250) days without the appearance of tumors, compared to In unvaccinated mice that died within (35) days only.

An advanced version of the vaccine also proved effective in resisting various types of cancer, including melanoma, triple-negative breast cancer, and pancreatic cancer, as (88%) of pancreatic cancer mice survived, (75%) of breast cancer mice, and (69%) of mice survived. Melanoma is free of tumors.
