Conclusion of a conference "Early childhood literacy 2025" In Sharjah

Sharjah, October 17, 2025 – Letters and Words / Early Childhood Literacy Conference 2025 concluded its second edition in Sharjah, which was organized by the Kalimat Group in partnership with the National Academy for Childhood Development, with the participation of more than 650 teachers, male and female, and 48 local and international speakers, with an attendance of more than 1,200 registrations from various emirates of the country.
The event included 26 training workshops and 16 dialogue sessions, which discussed the latest educational practices in the field of teaching the Arabic language in early childhood, in addition to presenting inspiring experiences from leading educational institutions and specialized experts from the region and the world.
At the conclusion of its activities, the conference, the first of its kind in the Arab world, presented practical solutions, strategies and effective tools that Arabic language teachers need in their daily journey, which contribute to empowering emerging generations through developing teaching methods and modern curricula based on the concept of literacy.
Ahmed Al-Ali, General Manager of Kalimat Group, confirmed that “Letters and Words / Early Childhood Literacy Conference 2025” formed a strategic platform that translated the group’s commitment to enhancing the child’s reading experience in his early years, and its belief in the pivotal role that the early years of children’s lives play in enhancing their linguistic, intellectual and cognitive skills, pointing out that teaching Arabic in the early childhood stage is an investment in building the child’s cultural identity and strengthening his belonging to his community. He said that the group has strengthened its partnership with an elite group of educational institutions with the aim of working to develop an integrated educational and reading system based on scientific research and that benefits from modern technologies and global educational practices. Kalimat will work to transform the results of the conference into practical initiatives and projects capable of bringing about the desired positive change in the educational field of early childhood education in the UAE and the Arab world.
The 16 conference sessions discussed 12 main topics, most notably the latest government developments and initiatives in the Emirates and Gulf countries to support Arabic in the early childhood stage, how schools achieve a balance between the Arabic and English languages in the early childhood stage, the impact of developing the Arabic language on the child’s mental and physical development, the role of training programs in developing nursery teachers and promoting the Arabic language, and how to bring fun back to teaching Arabic, colors and visual education as… A bridge to early literacy in Arabic.
The sessions also delved into the role of artificial intelligence and technology in supporting literacy in Arabic in early childhood, children’s literature and its impact on literacy in the early years, the basics of teaching reading and writing during the early years according to recent studies, folk tales and their role in developing language skills, enhancing Arabic in early childhood, the impact of teaching Arabic on strengthening national identity in childhood, teaching Arabic in early childhood in light of international standards, and the experience Cambridge is a model.
The conference also organized 26 interactive and training workshops in 9 basic themes that dealt with teaching Arabic through colors, songs, arts, and sensory play, how to create an Arabic-friendly classroom environment, and innovative strategies for teaching Arabic to people with disabilities, in addition to teaching Arabic in fun ways according to the Montessori approach and fun strategies for story readings in kindergartens.
The workshops included methods for teaching writing in Arabic, effective methods and practices for nursery children, innovative strategies in teaching Arabic phonetics, and systematic methods for teaching reading during the early years, in addition to teaching Arabic between entertainment and benefit and how to connect class and reality. The contribution of the theory of multiple intelligences in supporting teaching the Arabic language, and teaching the Arabic language using artificial intelligence.
The conference presented a unique experience in the “Crossing Borders” exhibition, which documented the research of Reggio Emilia nurseries on the close relationship between nature and digital media, where children explore natural phenomena, create digital landscapes, build new relationships, and discover unexpected phenomena.
The conference strengthened its cooperation with an elite group of partners and sponsors, who contributed to enhancing its results and ensuring success in achieving its goals, namely the National Academy for Childhood Development, the strategic partner, in addition to the support of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, the Sharjah Education Academy, the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the “Regio Children” Foundation.
