Masfout is the best tourist village in the world for the year 2025

Masfout in the Emirate of Ajman won the title of “Best Tourist Village in the World for the Year 2025”, an award given by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), in appreciation of the villages that represent a global model in sustainable rural tourism.
This global achievement is the culmination of the efforts of the UAE in general, and the Emirate of Ajman in particular, in developing an integrated model for sustainable environmental and rural tourism, which reflects the balance between development, environmental preservation, and authentic cultural identity.
This was announced during an official ceremony held in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China today, in the presence of the UAE delegation, which included His Excellency Mahmoud Khalil Al Hashemi, Director General of the Ajman Tourism Development Department, and Mohammed Al Ahbabi, Director of the Tourism Development Department at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, along with representatives of the United Nations Tourism Organization and a number of international delegations.
Masfout was chosen from among 270 villages representing 65 countries around the world, thanks to its excellence in applying environmental, social and economic sustainability standards, its preservation of natural and cultural heritage, in addition to its success in empowering the local community and promoting traditional crafts and projects.
This award comes in recognition of Masfout’s unique natural, cultural and tourism capabilities, which have made it a pioneering model in the field of sustainable environmental and rural tourism.
It is worth noting that the United Nations Tourism Organization launched this initiative in 2021, and it is considered one of the most prominent global programs that celebrate model rural villages around the world, and aims to honor villages that constitute exceptional models of sustainable tourism, by preserving natural and cultural heritage and enhancing the quality of life in local communities.
The initiative seeks to achieve a set of development goals, most notably stimulating balanced development in rural areas, empowering women and youth in local communities, encouraging innovation and digital transformation in tourism, and linking tourism to sustainable agricultural and food systems.
In selecting the winning villages, the organization relies on nine main axes that cover the various dimensions of sustainable development in the tourism sector, which are: cultural and natural resources, cultural and natural promotion, economic sustainability, social sustainability, environmental sustainability, tourism planning and development, administrative structure and governance, infrastructure and services, and innovation and digitization.
