The launch of the fourth session of the Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction

Al Dhafra, 17 October / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the activities and competitions of the Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction, in its fourth session, began today, and will continue until the current October 26 in Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra Region, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, with a strategic partnership from the “Sarh” group, and with the support of a number of government and private agencies.
The festival, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, hosts the Kingdom of Morocco, as the guest of honor for this session, within the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries in the vital and agricultural sectors through the Moroccan Date Village, which is a space to display Moroccan dates to the public, and is an outlet for direct sales to festival visitors and those wishing to purchase Moroccan dates, within the framework of hosting Morocco.
The festival seeks to consolidate its position as one of the most important international heritage events by encouraging the production and processing of dates and displaying the finest varieties, contributing to achieving the food security strategy, motivating farmers and date producers to improve the quality of their products, and exchanging experiences and research in the field of palm cultivation.
It includes 21 competitions for which 173 prizes are allocated with a total value of more than 5 million 559 thousand and 500 dirhams, including date auctions, honey competitions, cooking, date packaging, drawing and photography.
The festival also witnesses the daily organization of a “Dates Auction,” in which Emirati dates are displayed to visitors and those interested in purchasing luxury dates by bidding on date display tables. The festival also includes a “Honey Village,” which aims to support producers, factory and apiary owners in order to stimulate local production of honey, in addition to providing the opportunity for festival visitors to learn about the types and characteristics of Emirati honey.
The festival includes various heritage, entertainment and awareness activities, performances of folk arts, two exhibitions of pictures and paintings, traditional crafts, lectures and workshops directed at different age groups, in addition to shops selling dates and their products and agricultural tools, in addition to the participation of a number of government and private agencies that provide through their pavilions interactive and awareness programs for farmers and visitors, and display their services. And its innovations in the agricultural field.
