Egypt wins the Sitting Volleyball World Cup in America

Our national Paralympic volleyball team won the Sitting Volleyball World Cup, which was hosted by the American city of Indianapolis and its competitions concluded a short while ago.

The Egyptian national team was crowned champion after its victory over the Brazilian national team in the final match by three games to one, the results of which were as follows: 19/25, 25/22, 15/25, 21/25.

Our team was represented in the tournament by the players: 

Hisham Salah, team captain, Ashraf Zaghloul, Abdel Nabi Hassan, Mohamed El-Hanawy, Hossam Masoud, El-Sayed Musa, Ahmed Khamis, Ahmed Fadl, Zakaria El-Sayed, Mutawa Abu Al-Khair, Hamada Hassan, and Ahmed Zakry.

Led by the technical staff consisting of: Dr. Wagih Hamdy, director Technically, he is assisted by Mohamed Bashir, general coach, Mohamed Saad, coach, and Amin Abdel Moneim, administrative director. Our national team’s delegation to America was headed by Dr. Sameh Salem.

The Egyptian national volleyball team’s journey in the tournament had begun with victory over India, then Japan, and Australia with one result, which was three clean games, then victory over Croatia, three games to one, before faltering in the face of Brazil won by three games to one set, then beat the Netherlands by three clean games and qualified for the semi-finals, and defeated Kazakhstan, the first of the first group, by three clean games. Then it took revenge on the Brazilian team in the final, defeating it by three games to one half.

The Paralympic volleyball team is considered the best collective team in Egypt’s Olympic and Paralympic history, This is because it is the only team that was able to win three Paralympic medals in the years 2004, 2016 and 2024. It was also able to win three World Cup medals in the years 2006, 2010 and 2023, before winning the last title, in addition to two Confederations World Cup medals in 2012 and 2016, and 8 consecutive African Nations Championships.
