Photography exhibition celebrates heritage at festival"Al Dhafra Dates"

Al Dhafra, October 20 / WAM / The photography and drawing exhibition at the Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction in its fourth session, which continues until October 26, represents a space for displaying paintings and photographs that celebrate heritage.

Festival participants compete for prizes in the photography and drawing competitions in the categories “Palm Trees and Dates,” “Wildlife in Al Dhafra,” and “Marine Life in Al Dhafra.”

The exhibition’s photographs shed light on the Emirati heritage in general and the date palm in particular by embodying visual stories that convey to the viewer the beauty of wildlife and marine life, and the living place of the date palm in the memory of society, while the plastic paintings embody the human relationship with the palm tree and its fruits, and highlight the beauty of the natural and heritage environment of the date palm, in addition to conveying the natural charm of the environment of the Al Dhafra region. On land and at sea.

Visual artist Kholoud Al Jabri, a member of the jury for the drawing competition at the Liwa Dates Festival and Auction, confirmed that the competition is a bridge between heritage and contemporary creativity, in addition to strengthening the Emirati artistic scene, which had an impact in encouraging the female component, especially in the Al Dhafra region, to appear and participate in promising artistic works, noting that the continuation of organizing the competition will contribute in the long term to revealing professional artists. They continue to carry the banner of art and prepare new generations to continue the journey of fine art in the country.

She explained that the competition’s jury is keen to follow a number of artistic and technical standards and others related to the originality of the works participating in the competition, in order to ensure fairness in evaluating entries and to achieve the greatest accuracy in selecting the winners.

For his part, Yousef bin Shukr Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Photography Competition Jury, stressed that the competition aims to highlight the heritage and culture of the UAE, especially in the Al Dhafra region, which is rich in its diverse environmental and cultural heritage.

He added that this year’s edition witnessed the launch of a new axis, the marine life axis, alongside the axis of wildlife, dates, and palm trees, within the framework of enhancing the thematic diversity of the competition and enabling photographers to express the identity of the region and its rich natural environment with their creative lenses.

It is noteworthy that the festival organizing committee allocated valuable prizes for the two competitions with a total value of one million dirhams.
