The Kremlin confirms Putin and Trump’s intention to discuss bilateral relations and resolve the Ukrainian crisis during the Budapest summit

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that Russia hopes that the upcoming Budapest summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump will result in tangible progress in settling the Ukrainian crisis, noting that Moscow also intends to discuss bilateral relations with the United States during the meeting.

Peskov added in statements. He told journalists, reported by the Russian “TASS” news agency: “First, we would like to make some progress on the path to the Ukrainian settlement, and we also hope that this summit will be an opportunity to discuss our bilateral relations,” in response to a question about Moscow’s expectations from the summit.
Trump had announced on October 16, after A phone call with his counterpart, Putin, that the two leaders agreed to hold a meeting soon in Budapest.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed that Moscow and Washington would begin “without delay” Preparations for the new summit, which is likely to be held in the Hungarian capital.
In the same context, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban ordered the formation of an organizational committee to facilitate the preparations, noting that the preparations “began on Thursday evening.”
