Guterres: Africa faces challenges and offers solutions to serve the whole world

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, confirmed that the African continent is dealing with great challenges, seizing opportunities and offering solutions that benefit not only the continent but the entire world, stressing that Africa’s leadership, flexibility and vision are more essential than ever before. This came in a message addressed by Guterres To the "Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development" In its fifth edition, which was held on October 19 and 20 in Aswan – Southern Egypt – Under the slogan “A world in change, a continent in motion: Africa’s progress in light of global transformations.”
According to the United Nations Information Center, “Guterres” praised With the Forum’s focus on African-led solutions, inclusive dialogue, and the empowerment of youth and women.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations stressed the need to deal with interconnected challenges – peace and mediation, regional integration, economic transformation, green transition, public health, the potential and risks of artificial intelligence, and other matters.
He called for "Antonio Guterres" To continue working to strengthen multilateralism for the future, including ensuring the strengthening of African representation in international institutions through reform of the global financial architecture and the Security Council.
He said: “It has been a long wait for Africa to obtain permanent representation (in the UN Security Council).”
Guterres stressed “the work” Joint efforts to achieve the goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the African Union Agenda 2063, and seize the opportunity to build bridges, promote dialogue, and achieve results for people and the planet.
It is noteworthy that the Aswan Forum was launched during Egypt’s presidency of the African Union in 2019, and is described as “a high-level African platform that brings together leaders Africans from national governments, financial institutions, the private sector and civil society" and other partners for practical, actionable discussions. The forum seeks to “activate the interconnected approach between peace, security and development, by supporting African solutions.”
