ABU DHABI, 21st October / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center announced today the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian Ministry of Culture to organize Indonesia’s participation as the guest of honor of the 35th session of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2026.
The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, and Insan Abdul Karim, Secretary of the General Directorate of Diplomacy, Promotion and Cultural Cooperation in the Indonesian Ministry of Culture, while the signing ceremony was witnessed by His Excellency Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, along with representatives of the Emirati entities participating in the exhibition, the President of the Indonesian Publishers Union, Aris Hillman, and a large crowd of publishers, intellectuals, and writers. Indonesians.
His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim stressed that choosing Indonesia as a guest of honor at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair reflects the cultural and civilizational depth it possesses, making it a prominent Asian model in pluralism and cultural harmony, pointing out that the Indonesian experience in coexistence intersects with the vision of the UAE, which is based on openness, tolerance, and consolidating human brotherhood.
He added: We are pleased to have Indonesia as the guest of honor at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. This annual demonstration reflects the importance of culture in bringing people together, deepening the ties that bring them together, and opening broader horizons for the exchange of knowledge, thought, and creativity.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the two sides agreed to develop an integrated program for “Guest of Honour” events that includes literary, intellectual and artistic activities that highlight the Indonesian cultural scene and highlight the development of the publishing and translation movement in the country, in addition to enhancing the presence of Indonesian publishers at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair next year.
