Dubai Roads organizes Pink October events to promote health awareness
DUBAI, 21st October, 2018 (WAM) – The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) organized a series of awareness-raising events on the occasion of Pink October, the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to enhance its efforts to spread a culture of health awareness and encourage positive lifestyles among its employees, and to emphasize the importance of early detection and prevention of the disease.
Mira Al-Sheikh, Chair of the Women’s Committee at the Roads and Transport Authority, said that the committee launched an integrated program of workshops and educational activities during the month of October, presented by an elite group of female experts from leading medical and nutritional institutions, and focused on the psychological, health and nutritional aspects of working women.
She added that the activities included an arts and crafts workshop that contributes to relieving stress and promoting relaxation, in addition to an awareness dialogue session presented by Dr. Sama Zabada, breast surgery consultant at Al Zahraa Private Hospital, about the latest methods of prevention and treatment. Union Coop also provided souvenirs to the participants, while the committee organized a symbolic photo session in support of the campaign.
She explained that the program also included an awareness workshop on healthy nutrition presented by a certified nutritionist, an interactive event entitled “Make your own salad,” and educational workshops on public and cosmetic health in cooperation with the “Maison Elite” clinic and the “Call Doctor” group.
