This came in the Kingdom’s speech delivered by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdul Mohsen bin Khathila, today, in the general discussion within the work of the sixteenth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development "UNCTAD"Held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva under the slogan: "Shaping the future: driving economic transformation for equitable, inclusive and sustainable development"
Achieving sustainable economic transformation
In his speech, Ambassador Bin Khathila stressed the Kingdom’s keenness with Vision 2030 to achieve sustainable economic transformation, diversify sources of income, and build a more competitive and comprehensive economy, pointing to the achievements made by the Kingdom in the fields of national industry, logistics services, transportation, and smart services.
He explained that the Kingdom seeks to be a major center in chains of economic development. Supply and international trade, and continues its investments in developing ports, economic zones, and smart transportation, in line with the sustainable development goals and UNCTAD’s vision of building a balanced and integrated global economy.
Excerpts from the Kingdom’s speech during the sixteenth UNCTAD conference in Geneva, where it affirms its commitment to implementing its ambitious vision 2030 to achieve sustainable economic transformation and enhance its role in international trade and global development.
In the field of digital transformation, he pointed out that the Kingdom has become one of the world’s leading countries in this field through its national strategy for digital transformation, which has made technology and innovation a fundamental pillar in various sectors. The Kingdom is also working with UNCTAD and its international partners to enhance the digital economy, empower emerging companies and pioneer Business.
Supporting development projects
Ambassador Bin Khathila indicated that the Kingdom continues to support development projects in more than 90 countries through the Saudi Fund for Development, in the fields of infrastructure, education, health and energy, in confirmation of its commitment to the principle of partnership and shared responsibility.
He concluded his speech by emphasizing that the Kingdom, based on its values and economic, regional and international standing, believes that true development It is not measured only by numbers, but by its positive impact on human life everywhere.
