Abu Dhabi Police returns 140 million dirhams to victims of electronic fraud

Abu Dhabi Police revealed that it was able to recover 140 million dirhams of money obtained from electronic fraud, and return it to its owners, while the number of electronic fraud cases it dealt with reached 15,642 cases within two years.
Abu Dhabi Police launched a new version of the awareness media campaign “Be Cautious” with the aim of enhancing community awareness of emerging forms of cybercrime and supporting the national strategy for cybersecurity through the Security Awareness Program, which works to educate the public about the dangers of cybercrime and enhance confidence in digital government services. The plan relies on proactive campaigns to raise community awareness about modern electronic fraud methods in order to enhance community security and proactive prevention.
This came during a press conference held by Abu Dhabi Police in the presence of the Director of the Criminal Investigations and Investigations Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police, Brigadier Rashid Khalaf Al Dhaheri, the Deputy Director of the Community Police Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, Colonel Saif Ali Al Jabri, the Head of the Economic Crimes Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Salem Al Shamsi, the Head of the Cybercrimes Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, Lieutenant Colonel Ali Faris Al Nuaimi, and the Head of the Government Companies and Public Sector Department at the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank. The “Be Cautious” campaign includes nine axes: telephone scams, fake links, beware of downloading remote control programs, paying a deposit to buy special numbers, whether fake phones or vehicles, fake employment, not accepting friend requests from anonymous people via social media platforms, and beingware of fake electronic advertisements, fake auctions, real estate fraud, and fake investment.
