This postponement is the second of its kind between the two leaders, as Trump had announced during A phone call with Putin on February 12, 2025, saying that he was considering a meeting soon with his Russian counterpart in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but he explained at the time that the final decision regarding holding the meeting had not yet been taken.
