"Abu Dhabi Agriculture" Five memorandums of understanding are expected during World Food Week

Abu Dhabi, October 24 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, during its participation in the activities of the second edition of World Food Week, signed five memorandums of understanding with government agencies and community institutions.

This comes within the framework of the Authority’s efforts to expand the network of strategic partnerships and activate institutional integration in addition to building an integrated cooperation system that combines scientific research, community empowerment, institutional development, and digital integration to serve the goals of sustainable development and enhance Abu Dhabi’s position as a leadership center in agricultural innovation and food safety.

The Authority signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Defense, represented by the Chemical Defense Command, with the aim of providing specialized technical training programs in the analysis of hazardous biological samples, and enhancing cooperation in the fields of scientific consultation and sample exchange.

The memorandum includes training topics spanning three weeks, covering histological, parasitological, bacterial, serological, and molecular examinations, in addition to biosecurity and sample management systems.

In a qualitative step to support agricultural supply chains, the Authority signed a multilateral memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, Abu Dhabi Airports Company, and the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs, in addition to a group of leading agricultural companies, namely: Elite Agro Holding Company, Sellal Food and Technology Company, Pure Harvest Company for Smart Farms, and ESG Agro Company, with the aim of developing the agricultural products trade system. Perishable items, facilitating logistical procedures, and enhancing the competitiveness of the local product in regional and international markets.

The participating parties agreed to form a steering committee that includes representatives from each party, which will be responsible for general supervision of the implementation of the project, following up on the stages of developing the logistical infrastructure, in addition to coordinating efforts to facilitate the movement of perishable agricultural products through air and customs ports. The committee will also undertake the development of effective mechanisms to control quality, and adopt technical and regulatory standards that guarantee the safety of products and the speed of their circulation in accordance with the best standards. Global practices.

This initiative comes within the framework of Abu Dhabi’s vision aimed at strengthening the food security system and developing the agricultural sector, as the agreement contributes to supporting local producers and providing integrated solutions for transportation, storage and export, in line with the highest international standards.

The agreement also opens new horizons for cooperation between the government and private sectors, and supports efforts to transition towards a competitive and sustainable agricultural economy capable of meeting the needs of the local market and expanding towards regional and global markets.

This alliance embodies an integrated model of institutional and private cooperation, aiming to build an advanced supply chain system, facilitate customs and logistical procedures, and enhance export efficiency, thus contributing to raising the quality and competitiveness of the local product at the regional and international levels.

The Authority also signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), to enhance research cooperation in the fields of agriculture in salty and dry environments, developing crop strains resistant to climate stress, using remote sensing techniques, and exchanging scientific data. The agreement also includes cooperation in agricultural policies, empowering women and youth, and supporting international projects related to food security.

It stipulates the formation of joint working teams between the Authority and the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), which will determine priorities for research and development, and design applied projects aimed at improving agricultural production in areas with environmental challenges, such as saline soil and dry climate.

It also includes organizing workshops and training programs to build national capabilities and exchange scientific and technical expertise, which contributes to supporting agricultural innovation and enabling local cadres to adopt sustainable solutions that enhance food security in the UAE and the region.

In the context of supporting low-income community groups, the Authority signed a memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, aiming to exchange data on agricultural holdings, and provide production and awareness programs for beneficiaries, especially women, to enable them to participate in agricultural events and exhibitions.

The agreement also stipulates the development of electronic connectivity between the two entities, and the formation of joint work teams to follow up implementation and evaluate the social impact.

A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Emirates Blood Donation Association, to enhance cooperation in organizing blood donation campaigns, spreading health awareness, and exchanging volunteers and media expertise.

The agreement includes coordination in media coverage, providing logistical support, and activating partnership in national initiatives of a health and humanitarian nature.

It also aims to establish a culture of volunteer work and enhance the spirit of social responsibility among the Authority’s employees and participants in the agricultural sector.
