With names… award winners "King Salman Academy for the Arabic Language 2025"

Declare The Arabic language, enhancing its position, and supporting its role in the fields of: education, computing, research, and spreading awareness; Within its strategic initiatives that are consistent with the objectives of the Human Capacity Development.
The winners will be honored at a ceremony held under the patronage of His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud – may God protect him – Minister of Culture, Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Trustees, on Sunday, 09 Jumada al-Akhirah 1447 AH, corresponding to November 30, 2025 AD, in the city of Riyadh.
The Secretary-General of the Academy, Professor Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi noted that the Academy enjoys constant support from His Highness the Minister of Culture – may God protect him – for all its programs and projects, stressing that this award is an annual initiative that seeks to honor the distinguished achievements that contribute to developing the use of the Arabic language and disseminating it locally and internationally, and to encourage creative initiatives that advance Arabic content and keep pace with technical and cognitive transformations.
Creativity and Innovation. And Excellence
The Academy stated that the fourth session for the year 2025 AD included four main branches: teaching and learning the Arabic language, computerizing the Arabic language and serving it with modern technologies, Arabic language research and scientific studies, spreading linguistic awareness and creating linguistic community initiatives.
The nominated works were evaluated according to precise arbitration mechanisms that take into account the quality of the work, The depth of its impact and its sustainability, and the names of the winners were announced after the completion of scientific deliberations and the arbitration reports of the relevant committees that worked according to specific standards that include indicators that measure the extent of creativity and innovation, excellence in performance, achieving comprehensiveness and widespread spread, effectiveness and impact achieved.

In its fourth edition, the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language Award continues to honor innovators and crown the winners who contributed to serving and spreading the Arabic language, as part of a renewed process of giving and excellence.
Arabic Language Teaching Branch
It was decided to award the Academy’s award to the following winners:
First: In the Arabic Language Teaching and Learning Branch:
In the Individuals Category: The award was given to Professor Dr. Mahmoud Muhammad Adel Mahmoud Al-Batal, from the United States; To distinguish his contributions to serving the Arabic language, his efforts in the field of teaching the Arabic language were diversified, with an active and influential presence in the Arab world. It included various theoretical and applied aspects, and his efforts gained additional value. Because of its global radiance and tangible impact that transcends geographical borders.
These contributions vary between deep theorizing of the Arabic linguistic phenomenon and analyzing its methods and structure, to developing linguistic skills and methods of acquiring them.
This diversity also extends to the nature of scientific production; Efforts combine solid theoretical research – which is represented in authored and edited books, peer-reviewed scientific studies, and chapters published in collective books – with applied research, which is embodied in educational literature.
In the Institutions category: The award was granted to (the International Curriculum Foundation), from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; To distinguish its contributions to serving the Arabic language, in accordance with an integrated methodological vision that seeks to achieve effective and comprehensive learning of the Arabic language. Through the preparation of a methodological document that formed the reference framework for all educational initiatives.
This resulted in the production and development of various curricula and educational means, including: an educational series for the early stage, and another for non-Arabic speakers, in addition to enrichment materials and supporting story series.
The Foundation issued a reference book, entitled: (The Reference in Education Arabic: modern methods and trends), and provided training packages and rehabilitation programs for teachers, while employing educational games and modern digital platforms, and contributed to creating a qualitative shift in teaching Arabic, combining originality, methodology and innovation.
Arabic Language Computerization Branch
Second: In the Arabic Language Computerization and Service Branch With modern technologies:
In the Individuals category: The award was given to Dr. Ahmed Miloud Ahmed Kharsi, from Algeria; To distinguish his contributions to serving the Arabic language, through the development of more than (30) practical computer systems within the project: (Balqis Systems), which included tools for automatic formation, text-to-phonetic conversion, phonetic and spelling correction, entity detection, and recitation correction.
More than (15) studies of his have been published in peer-reviewed journals. And international conferences, and he also participated in building Arabic computer linguistic blogs, which are considered a rare applied resource.
Among his most prominent projects: developing a search engine for the comprehensive open source library, and an integrated digital journals platform based on (OJS), within the framework of efforts that combine research depth and programming application to serve the Arabic language.
In the Institutions Category: Awarded The award goes to (King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology), from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for distinguished contributions to serving the Arabic language through establishing a research institute specialized in automated processing of the Arabic language and its leadership. It was one of the first institutions to work and develop – over more than three decades – an integrated system of linguistic technologies. It included building a huge audio database, developing a system for automatic speech recognition in local dialects, and designing advanced tools, such as: (Al-Khalil morphological), (OCR) for optical recognition of Arabic text, and the poetic search engine (Nabaa), in addition to (Abar) systems for automatic evaluation, (AVA) for virtual assistance, and automatic translation systems.
It also contributed to the Arabization of open source operating systems and the construction of the comprehensive Arabic blog that covers more than 1,500 years of Arabic use, confirming its position as a pioneering research institution that combines applied research and technical development to serve the Arabic language.
Arabic Language Research Branch
Third: In the Arabic Language Research and Studies Branch Academic:
In the Individuals category: The award was awarded equally to Professor Dr. Ramzi Mounir Baalbaki, from the Lebanese Republic; For his distinguished contributions in serving the Arabic language; Throughout an academic career that exceeded four decades, he made qualitative contributions that combined specialized depth and breadth of scientific and cultural impact, and enriched the field of linguistic and lexical studies and Arab heritage with research characterized by accuracy and innovation. He has published twelve authored and thirteen edited and edited books, and more than eighty research papers in Arabic and English in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Which consolidated his position in Arab and international academic circles.
His institutional role was highlighted in his leadership of the project: (The Doha Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language), and his completion of work on: (The Greater Resource Dictionary), and the completion of important heritage linguistic texts, and his studies contributed to establishing solid scientific references in linguistic research.
The award was also awarded equally to Professor Dr. Saad Abdel Aziz Masloh, from the Arab Republic of Egypt. For the distinction of his contributions in serving the Arabic language over more than fifty years, in which he combined theoretical foundations with practical application, he wrote more than (33) books, translated (9) solid scientific works, and published (29) peer-reviewed research. His scientific project was distinguished by its methodological rooting and openness to modern linguistic approaches, while preserving the originality of the concepts and the balance of the vision.
And he left. He had a prominent scientific impact in applied linguistics, discourse analysis, and statistical stylistics, and his books and translations – including his solid translation of the book: (On Translation Theory: Contemporary Trends) – contributed to renewing the tools for analyzing Arabic texts.
He also played an active role in preparing researchers, developing curricula for teaching Arabic and linguistics, and providing the academic environment. With a constructive critical vision, he is considered one of the scholars who combined originality, novelty, and long-term impact.
Diverse Linguistic Environments
In the Institutions Category: The award was awarded to (The Educational Center for the Arabic Language for the Gulf States), from the United Arab Emirates; For his distinguished contributions to serving the Arabic language, which adopted an integrated project to develop Arabic language education; Through a strategic vision and systematic scientific practices, translated into qualitative initiatives that included designing educational programs, preparing methodological guides, and developing content that takes into account diverse linguistic environments, especially in non-Arabic speaking countries.
The center contributed to developing educational policies and strategies for teaching Arabic in the Gulf countries, and building evaluation tools and performance indicators to improve outcomes. Learning, targeting teachers and educational administrations.
His scientific output, including studies, reports, and training manuals, also constituted a reliable reference that contributed to enhancing the presence of the Arabic language in educational plans. It was distinguished by its regional and international partnerships, its sustainable professional programs, and its use of modern technologies in education. Which reflects institutional maturity and sustainability in performance.
Spreading Linguistic Awareness Branch
Fourth: In the Branch of Spreading Linguistic Awareness and Creativity of Linguistic Community Initiatives:
In the Individuals Category: The award was given to Professor Dr. Mazen Abdel Qader Muhammad Al Mubarak, from the Syrian Arab Republic; For his distinguished contributions in serving the Arabic language; Over many decades, he provided a distinguished effort in serving the Arabic language through investigation, writing, and intellectual framing, and he was one of the pioneers of the council who contributed to raising linguistic awareness thanks to his balanced scientific vision and his approach that combined originality, investigation, and field work.
Among his most notable achievements: his pioneering project in enhancing linguistic awareness, which culminated in his famous book: (Towards an Awareness Linguist) in the 1970s; He made a qualitative shift in dealing with language issues and linking them to identity, and called for enabling Arabic people to realize the characteristics of their language and invest it in education and the development of curricula and linguistic policies.
His contributions extended to conferences, seminars, and the arbitration of scientific works, confirming his active presence in consolidating the position of Arabic in education, culture, and media.
Language issues And Identity
In the Institutions category: The award was awarded to (The National Coalition for the Arabic Language in Morocco), from the Kingdom of Morocco; For his distinguished contributions in serving the Arabic language; Through his initiatives that combined awareness-raising field work and engagement in discussions about linguistic policies, he became a pivotal actor in issues of language and identity.
Since its founding, it has focused on enhancing linguistic awareness in Moroccan society; He conducted lectures, seminars, and intellectual forums, and participated in formulating a societal discourse on policies that might threaten the status of Arabic.
He also worked to build bridges of cooperation with decision-makers, legislative and international institutions, and contributed to global cultural and intellectual projects.
He directed his attention to empowering women and youth; For their role in shaping linguistic awareness in the family and society, maintaining a balance between field and strategic cultural work and anticipating future challenges.
This award aims to highlight the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the fields of the Arabic language, enhance its presence among native speakers and others, encourage excellence and creativity in its various fields, support efforts aimed at developing its tools and curricula, and raise the level of awareness. With its importance; As a prominent component of cultural identity, and a cognitive and economic resource for a promising future.
It is noteworthy that the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language Prize was launched to be a prominent annual event within the complex’s tracks: linguistic planning and policies, linguistic computing, educational programs, and cultural programs. In its previous sessions, it was able to consolidate the values of excellence and creativity in linguistic giving, and shed light on the leading models of individuals and institutions that serve the Arabic language locally and internationally.
