Start-up of full commercial operation of the plant "Fujairah F3 " Independent electricity generation

ABU DHABI, 27 October / WAM / Emirates Water and Electricity Company, in partnership with Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Marubeni Company, Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), and Hokuriku Electric Power Company, announced the start of full commercial operation of the Fujairah F3 independent power generation station.

The station is located in the Qadfa area in the Emirate of Fujairah. It is considered one of the largest and most efficient gas-fired power plants in the UAE, with a capacity of 2.4 gigawatts. It is capable of generating sufficient electrical energy to meet the needs of about 380,000 homes, as it supplies electricity reliably, in addition to supporting the process of integrating electricity generated from renewable energy sources, which contributes to achieving the strategic transformation process in the sector. Energy in the country.

The station is equipped with the latest JAC gas turbine technologies from Mitsubishi Power, which are assembled within systems that are considered one of the most advanced combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT) in the region.

The Fujairah F3 station is considered a major part of the UAE’s journey towards cleaner and more sustainable energy production, due to its high thermal efficiency, rapid response ability, and low emissions.

The station was developed according to the “Independent Power Producer” model, and its ownership is distributed among the partners, as “Taqa” owns a 40% stake in the project company, “Marubeni Corporation” has a 20.4% stake, “Mubadala” has a 20% stake, and “Hokoriko Electric Power” has a 19.6% stake. Emirates Water and Electricity Company will be the sole buyer of the electricity produced from the station, under a long-term power purchase agreement.

Andreas Kollor, Chief Operating Officer of the Electricity Generation and Water Desalination Sector at TAQA, said: “Achieving full commercial operation of the Fujairah F3 power plant represents an important achievement for TAQA that reinforces our journey to provide reliable and flexible solutions for electricity generation that support our company’s ambitions for growth and the broader transformation of the energy sector in the UAE.
