“Dubai Electricity” and Veolia are discussing cooperation

DUBAI, 27th October, 2018 (WAM) – His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Anne Le Guinque, CEO of Water Technology at Veolia, today discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the areas of sustainable water resources management, innovation in water treatment technologies, and the use of smart digital solutions to achieve operational efficiency and environmental sustainability, in line with the UAE’s trends and Dubai’s goals. Strategy for transitioning towards a green economy.
This came during the meeting held at the Authority’s headquarters, and is part of the efforts of both sides to strengthen partnerships and exchange experiences and international best practices in the fields of research, development and technical innovation.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer reviewed the most prominent projects and initiatives implemented by the Authority in the field of the water sector, including water desalination projects using clean energy, and its efforts in comprehensive digital transformation and innovation in water technologies, in addition to implementing the latest smart monitoring systems to manage demand and ensure the sustainability of resources, which contributes to consolidating Dubai’s position as a pioneering city in sustainability and adopting smart solutions in the water and energy sector.
The Authority is working to enhance cooperation with its global partners to employ the latest technologies in the field of water resources management, including solutions based on artificial intelligence, predictive systems, and smart control of water networks, to ensure the sustainability of natural resources and achieve the highest levels of operational efficiency.
His Excellency explained that the Authority adopts an integrated approach to water management based on enhancing the efficiency of production, transportation and distribution, innovation in water desalination using clean energy, and enhancing water security by diversifying production sources and applying circular economy practices that ensure optimal exploitation of resources.
For her part, Anne Le Guennec praised the pioneering role of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in integrating the concepts of innovation and sustainability into its strategies and projects, stressing Veolia’s keenness to expand areas of cooperation with the Authority to support Dubai’s journey towards a more sustainable future.
