" Emirates Tourism Media Association" It holds its first general assembly meeting in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, October 29 / WAM / Today, the Emirates Tourism Media Association held its first regular general assembly meeting, after being licensed by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi and recognized by the Ministry of Community Empowerment to be the first public benefit association of its kind in the country, specializing in the field of tourism media.

The work of the General Assembly was opened by Omar Al Mansouri, representative of the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, after the quorum was completed in the presence of the founding members. The bylaws of the association were reviewed, which will have its main headquarters in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its circle of activity in the United Arab Emirates.

The association aims to activate the role of specialized tourism media in supporting the country’s tourism promotion efforts locally and globally, in line with the National Tourism Strategy 2031, which aims to consolidate the country’s position as the best global tourism identity.

Journalist Hussein Al Mannai, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, said in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the Association will be the strategic partner for most institutions, departments and sectors specialized in the tourism sector, indicating that its primary goal is to promote the UAE internally and externally and to qualify and train media professionals specialized in this field, by organizing training courses that contribute to developing their skills and enhancing their participation in introducing the most important tourist attractions that the country abounds with.

He added that among the association’s primary objectives is to create a professional communication network that brings together media professionals working in the tourism media sector to exchange experiences and best practices, enhance coordination between media entities, and work to develop the skills of specialized media professionals, in addition to producing media content that reflects the cultural, historical and natural heritage of the Emirates, as well as organizing specialized conferences in tourism and economic media, which contributes to supporting science and specialized research in the tourism sector.

For his part, Ahmed Al-Bariki, Vice President of the Association, said that the establishment of the Association is a landmark moment in the country’s tourism system with the presence of specialized media that keeps pace with the tourism renaissance witnessed by the Emirates, and reflects the pivotal role of the tourism sector as a main engine for economic diversification and increasing its contribution to the gross domestic product.

The meeting witnessed the election of the association’s board of directors for a period of four years in accordance with the bylaws. It consists of nine members, including three women, all of whom represent various sectors, including media, academic, tourism and marketing expertise, in addition to the young generation of recent graduates.
