The Dubai Airshow promotes sustainability and accelerates the pace of transformation in the sector

Dubai, 29 October / WAM / The Dubai Airshow 2025, which will be held from 17 to 21 November, highlights the efforts aimed at making a qualitative shift in the sustainable aviation sector, by uniting the sector’s efforts globally to provide realistic solutions that contribute to achieving climate neutrality in the future.
The sustainability theme is at the top of the exhibition’s priorities this year, as it focuses on accelerating the application of innovative sustainable technologies in the aviation sector, in addition to helping to remove carbon from the aviation system.
The exhibition reflects the importance of the role of international events in showcasing the latest innovations, in addition to the fact that it represents a prominent platform for taking decisive action that contributes to shaping the future of the aviation sector.
The 19th edition of the exhibition hosts sector leaders, innovators, policy makers and advocates in the field of sustainability, in addition to distinguished contributions from global entities, including Dubai Airports, Airbus, Boeing, the World Economic Forum, Airports Council International and the General Civil Aviation Authority.
The exhibition’s activities include showcasing the latest technologies and partnerships that contribute to making tangible positive change and highlighting the increasing levels of cooperation along the value chain in the aviation sector to support decarbonization efforts and confront the challenges related to expanding the scope of sustainable aviation fuel production.
The exhibition works to develop policies and global cooperation in this field, and opens horizons for new financing mechanisms to support this transformation, in addition to accelerating the pace of transformation in the field of energy and building the fuel system necessary to reshape the features of the future of the aviation sector.
This year, the oneDXB Sustainability Alliance is hosting a special show highlighting fully sustainable ground handling services.
The Alliance is a multilateral initiative led by Dubai Airports, and works to unite the efforts of airlines, ground handling providers and service providers with the aim of enhancing decarbonization efforts, innovation and resilience at Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airports (Dubai World Central) through coordinated actions and shared responsibility.
Sven Dekkers, Director of Sustainability at Dubai Airports, said that the Dubai Airshow constitutes a prominent platform that brings together global stakeholders and highlights practical solutions, while raising the level of dialogue sessions on the most prominent topics in the sector to achieve tangible results. At Dubai Airports, we focus on providing a more sustainable future through cooperation with our partners, and holding such events also plays a pivotal role in transforming common goals into real progress on the ground.
For his part, Julian Manhaes, Director of Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Carbon Dioxide Removal at Airbus, said: Sustainability represents a strategic priority in the global aviation sector, and the Dubai Air Show provides a vital platform for Airbus to showcase our latest technologies and strengthen the necessary partnerships in order to accelerate the pace of the sector’s efforts to remove carbon. The two-day expanded sustainability conference that accompanies the exhibition devotes space to discussing the most prominent issues, starting from expanding the use of sustainable aviation fuel and the next generation of fuel, to decarbonizing airports and opening new horizons for green finance and sustainable innovation.
Confirmed speakers for the event include Justin Erbachi, Director General of Airports Council International; Captain Suleiman Al-Muhamidi, Executive Vice President for Aviation Safety and Environmental Sustainability at the General Civil Aviation Authority; and Sven Dekkers, Director of Sustainability, Innovation and Partnerships at Dubai Airports.
In turn, Jeff Shockey, Executive Vice President of Government Operations, Global Public Policy and Corporate Strategy at Boeing, said that Boeing is committed to providing commercially viable solutions that contribute to supporting the flexible and sustainable growth of the aviation sector globally, as we always seek to strengthen our cooperation with governments and energy service providers in the Middle East region, which helps us support diversification efforts in energy markets and provide new job opportunities, in addition to improving the effectiveness of aviation systems.
The Dubai Air Show is once again cooperating with GITEX to supply participating aircraft with sustainable aviation fuel, while adopting aircraft handling equipment powered by electricity and propane gas, with the aim of significantly reducing emissions in all sections of the exhibition.
The exhibition’s trends in support of sustainability are highlighted through the Better Pavilions Programme, an initiative launched with the aim of encouraging exhibitors to adopt reusable models and designs of platforms, to leave a positive impact without affecting the environment.
