Barcelona’s injury crisis is getting worse. Pedri is moving away from the team

Barcelona’s Spanish midfielder Pedri suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh that will keep him out of the field in the coming weeks, according to press reports on Wednesday.
The defending Spanish League champion wrote on his official account: “First team player Pedri suffered a tear in the biceps femoris muscle in his left leg. His recovery will determine the date of his return to the field.”
The Catalan newspaper Ara wrote that the talented player began a special training program on Wednesday in the gym to recover from the physical problem that dates back to the El Clásico match last Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium against Real Madrid (1-2), which he finished exhausted and was expelled at the end because he received two warnings.
She added that Pedri (22 years old) will miss the match against Elche at Montjuïc Stadium this weekend due to suspension, and will also miss at least the two Champions League matches against Brugge of Belgium, and the Spanish League against Celta Vigo on November 9 before the international break in the middle of next month.
Pedri’s injury adds to the long list of absences among the Catalan team, which includes Brazilian Rafinha, Gavi, German Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and Danish Andreas Christensen.
German coach Hansi Flick is working to restore veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, Dani Olmo, and even goalkeeper Joan Garcia before facing Elche.
Flick relied on Pedri as a starter in the 13 matches that Barcelona played so far in La Liga and the Champions League. No player has played more minutes than Pedri, who is considered the organizer of play in Barcelona’s midfield.
Pedri’s latest physical problem was a knee sprain during the European Cup.
