Mansour bin Mohammed: Leadership support and the determination of champions are the basic driving force for sporting excellence

Dubai, 1st November / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee, affirmed that the support and encouragement of the wise leadership, and the determination and will of the champions, will remain the basic driving force for achieving sporting excellence and writing new chapters in the record of the UAE’s achievements in various regional and international sporting forums.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum praised the great historical achievement of the Emirati delegation that competed in the third edition of the Asian Youth Games, and its activities concluded yesterday in the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain, and the participation was crowned by the Emirati champions achieving 31 colored medals, ranking first in the Arab world and eighth in the general ranking table, amid the participation of more than 5,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries, in a message that the UAE is worthy of making a difference. Recording achievements with merit and distinction.
His Highness praised this great achievement, the record numbers and the colorful medals that stand behind the inspiring stories of honorable national models, and said: “This great achievement was not the result of a coincidence, but rather the result of diligent work and a sense of responsibility towards the nation, which I saw will always stand tall with the vision and directives of its wise leadership and the giving of its loyal sons and their dedication to its advancement.”
His Highness, President of the National Olympic Committee, expressed his pride in the UAE champions winning this large number of medals, which were accompanied by precise details, whether at the level of results, such as breaking the record more than once in the 100-meter race through the athletics team and qualifying for the World Under-20 Championships to be held next year, as well as the success and brilliance of the camel racing and endurance team and the Muay Thai team in their first appearance in Asian forums, in addition to the distinguished achievement of the swimming team and winning a gold medal. 50 meter butterfly with the best time in the Asian Youth Games, and the jiu-jitsu team won 7 colorful medals, and the rest of the sports that raised the UAE flag on the podiums, which are equestrianism in the endurance and show jumping competitions, combat sports, electronic sports, and badminton.
His Highness appreciated the spirit of commitment, cooperation and altruism that brought together the members of the sports delegation who were keen to join hands and rally around the athletes in the various stages of the tournament. He praised the great role of the UAE diplomatic mission to the Kingdom of Bahrain, which provided all aspects of support and assistance to facilitate the mission of the various work teams.
The UAE had participated in the third Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, with a delegation consisting of 152 athletes (107 male and 45 female players) who participated in 19 sports competitions: handball, 3×3 basketball, equestrian (show jumping and endurance), athletics, swimming, cycling (road), boxing, Muay Thai, electronic sports, weightlifting, triathlon, taekwondo, table tennis, camel racing, badminton, golf, judo, Jiu-Jitsu, and MMA combat sports.
