"The Grand Egyptian Museum" It opens its doors with a global celebration… and Al-Sisi emphasizes building the future with knowledge


Cairo, 1st November / WAM / Today, Cairo witnessed an international celebration on the occasion of the opening of the “Grand Egyptian Museum”, in a majestic civilized scene at the foot of the Giza Pyramids, embodying Egypt’s nobility and uniqueness as a beacon of human civilization.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in the presence of his wife, Mrs. Intisar El-Sisi, led the high-level international audience. 79 official delegations from various countries of the world participated in the celebration, including 39 delegations headed by kings, princes, and heads of state and government. The audience also included a number of prime ministers and ministerial and parliamentary delegations, as well as representatives of regional and international organizations, including the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the African Union, and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
The Grand Egyptian Museum is the largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization, as it includes more than one hundred thousand artifacts that embody the history of Egypt extending over thousands of years.
These treasures top the entire collection of King Tutankhamun’s belongings, which are displayed for the first time all together in one place, within a unique architectural design that combines authenticity and modernity.
In his speech during the ceremony, the Egyptian President affirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum represents a three-dimensional image of the path of a generous and civilization-building people, noting that Egyptian civilization was and continues to be a permanent source of inspiration for the peoples of the earth.
He said that the opening of this huge cultural edifice clearly expresses the Egyptians’ firm will to build the future on solid foundations of knowledge and peace.
The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities explained that this historic opening constitutes a message of peace and civilization from Egypt to the world, and reflects the state’s vision of making culture and heritage an essential pillar for building the future, and consolidating Egypt’s position as a global destination for culture and sustainable development.
