Bahrain University of Technology organizes a symposium on agricultural innovations supported by artificial intelligence

The University of Bahrain for Technology (UTB), in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, organized a scientific symposium entitled “From Soil to the Cloud: Agricultural Innovations Supported by Artificial Intelligence,” on October 2, 2025.

The symposium was presented by Dr. Firas Al-Saeedi, Assistant Professor and Head of the Artificial Intelligence and Metaverse Center at the University, with the participation of Professor Reda Shaker, Head of the Center for Professional Development and Graduate Affairs at Bahrain University of Technology.

During the symposium, the speaker reviewed the role of artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and data analysis in developing the agricultural sector, highlighting practical applications such as smart irrigation, precision agriculture, and aerial surveillance using drones.

The symposium highlighted how to harness modern technologies to enhance sustainability and operational efficiency in agriculture, in line with the Kingdom’s trends towards digital transformation and innovation in vital sectors.

The event witnessed fruitful interaction from the cadres of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, which reflected the spirit of cooperation and partnership between higher education institutions and government agencies in supporting the national development process.

At the conclusion of the symposium, the Bahrain University of Technology expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture for its constructive cooperation, to all contributors to the success of the event, and to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture represented by the Human Resources Department and all participating frameworks, in appreciation of their efforts in supporting the objectives of the symposium and promoting innovation in the agricultural field.
