National Meteorology: Gradual drop in temperatures during November

Abu Dhabi, 3 November / WAM / The National Center of Meteorology explained that the month of November is considered the second transitional period, as temperatures begin to be moderate during the day and tend to decrease at night, declining at a rate ranging between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius compared to last October, as a result of the continued apparent movement of the sun towards the south. The center indicated that the country is gradually affected during the second half of the month by the extension of the “Siberian” high air pressure, which leads to continued low temperatures, and the weather tends to be cold at night, especially in the mountainous and inland areas. The country is also sometimes affected by the extension of surface air depressions coming from the Red Sea or from the east, and if they are accompanied by depressions in the upper layers of the atmosphere from the east or west, the amount of clouds increases, and cumulus rain clouds form in some areas, especially the eastern ones. The center added that the prevailing winds during this month are southeasterly in the morning, gradually turning during the day to westerly or northwesterly, and may sometimes become active with the formation of cumulonimbus clouds, and the average wind speed is 11 km/hour. He explained that the average temperature during November ranges between 23.9 and 26.4 degrees Celsius, while the maximum ranges between 29 and 32.1 degrees, and the minimum ranges between 18.8 and 21.5 degrees Celsius. The center stated that the average relative humidity is about 57%, with the highest being between 76% and 85%, which creates the opportunity for light and dense fog to form in various areas of the country, especially in the early morning hours. He pointed out that the year 2024 witnessed the highest frequency of fog conditions, with 21 foggy days and 5 light fog days. The highest amount of rain was recorded during the month of November on Dalma Island in 2013, amounting to 211.4 mm, which reflects the possibility that some areas of the country will be exposed to rainy weather conditions during this month.
