Ashraf Abdel Baqi: Experience "Egypt Theater" A turning point in theatre

The artist spoke Ashraf Abdel Baqi About his artistic career and his beginnings with theater, during a symposium FestivalVS-FILM  for very short films in Ain Sokhna, explaining that he presented about 80 plays as an amateur before joining the institute, considering that that stage was the basis for the formation of his artistic personality.

Ashraf Abdel Baqi said, “I started with the play Rosewood, and after that came the Teatro Misr experience, then Theater Misr, which was a completely new experience for the audience, and in which a large number of artists participated, such as: Hamdi Al-Marghani, Mustafa Khater, Ali Rabie, Wizo, Aws Aws and others..

 

He continued that technological development led to the disappearance of many professions, and that the idea of ​​Theater Egypt came to keep pace with this change, saying: “In the past, plays used to sit for three hours or more, so I thought of making a one-hour play that included laughter and fun.”.

 

As he added Ashraf Abdel Baqi pointed out that the idea of ​​Theater Egypt was based on improvisation and team spirit, stressing that the basis for it was the television show, which made some object at first, but the experiment achieved great success and became a turning point in the history of Egyptian theater.
