Jerusalem Governorate: The occupation authorities announce the issuance of two new tenders to build a settlement neighborhood in the governorate

The Jerusalem Governorate said that the Israeli occupation authorities announced the issuance of two new tenders to build a settlement neighborhood in the “Adam, Givat Binyamin” settlement. The Jerusalem Governorate considered, in a statement today, Wednesday, according to the Palestinian news agency “Wafa”, that this announcement represents a dangerous escalation in the policy of settlement expansion and annexation of more lands located within the northeastern slopes of the city, as part of a feverish race to impose new demographic and geographical realities that serve the “Greater Jerusalem” project, explaining that the so-called Ministry Israeli Housing published two tenders, the first includes the construction of 342 settlement units distributed over five compounds, while the second includes 14 separate houses designated for reserve soldiers in the occupation army, and this project is based on a building plan approved last January that expands the urban area of the settlement by about 150 dunams towards the Bedouin community in Jaba.

The governorate explained that This expansion comes within a broader plan to connect the settlement to the “Givat Gur Arye” settlement outpost. Which was established last February next to Jaba’, and was accompanied by an escalation of daily and violent settlers’ attacks on the citizens of the community, which leads to the creation of a continuous settlement outreach aimed at besieging the Palestinian presence and pushing it for forced deportation. Last Sunday, the occupation authorities also published an additional tender to plan and build a new settlement complex in the “New Gibeon” settlement. northwest of Jerusalem, strengthening the settlement cordon around the occupied capital.

The Jerusalem Governorate indicated that the occupation has offered, since the beginning of 2025, a total of 5,667 settlement units in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, which is an unprecedented record that increases by about 50% compared to the previous peak recorded in 2018.
