The statement added that this session will be held based on an official request submitted by Britain, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway, indicating that it received the support of the 24 members of the Council.

This comes after the Rapid Support Forces, which have been waging a war against the Sudanese army since 2023, took control of the strategic city of El Fasher last month, after an 18-month siege.
