Trump is considering exempting Hungary from sanctions on purchasing Russian oil
The US President informed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Friday that he would consider exempting his country from the sanctions imposed on the purchase of .
Trump told reporters during his meeting with Orban at the White House: "We are looking into it, because he (Orbán) is having great difficulty getting oil and gas from other regions. You know, they don’t have the advantage of having a sea"
Sanctions on Russian oil
Orban, a right-wing nationalist, has long disagreed with the rest of the European Union countries regarding exerting pressure on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. Friday confirmed that is vital to his country.
He explained that he would explain to Trump "What are the consequences for the Hungarian people and the Hungarian economy if there is no access to Russian oil and gas?"
He said: "Because we depend on pipelines (for energy), pipelines are not an ideological or political issue. It is a tangible reality because we do not have ports".
