One billion followers of the “Egyptian Super Cup 2025” in the Emirates

The organizing committee of the “2025 Egyptian Super Cup” revealed that the number of followers of the tournament exceeded one billion followers across social media platforms and channels broadcasting the event, explaining that the version hosted by Abu Dhabi is the most followed in the history of the tournament.

Al-Ahly had won the title for the fifth time in a row, and the 16th in its history, after defeating its rival, Zamalek, 2-0, yesterday, at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, amid a large crowd in attendance that exceeded 30,000 spectators. The first goal was scored by Moroccan Ashraf Ben Sharqi in the 44th minute, then Marwan Attia added the second goal (71).

For his part, a member of the Executive Office of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and President of the Egyptian Football Association, Engineer Hani Abu Rida, confirmed that “the current edition of the Egyptian Super Cup was the most distinguished and successful in the history of the tournament,” praising the impressive organization in the Emirates, which reflected an upscale image of professionalism and creativity in hosting major sporting events.

Abu Raida told Emirates Today: “The efforts made by the UAE from the start of preparations until the moment of conclusion embodied the finest forms of sports cooperation between the two countries, and provided a role model for coordination and joint work,” stressing that “the final scene was civilized, cultural and sporting, befitting the status of Egypt and its ancient history, and expresses the depth of the fraternal relations between the Egyptian and Emirati peoples.”

He pointed out that “the large public presence that filled the stands in the final match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek, and the widespread interest across digital channels and platforms, reflects the special position that the Egyptian Super Cup occupies among fans of Arab football,” stressing that “following by more than a billion viewers around the world is conclusive evidence that Egyptian football still maintains its leadership and regional and international influence.”

He added, “The organizational, public and media success achieved for the current edition of the Egyptian Super Cup in Abu Dhabi was not the result of a coincidence, but rather the result of integrated efforts between the Egyptian Football Association and the UAE Professional League, who worked in the spirit of one team to produce the event with the highest standards of quality and excellence.”

He concluded that “the Egyptian Football Association is keen to continue the successful partnership with the UAE in organizing the next editions of the Super Cup, due to the technical, organizational and media gains it achieves,” stressing that “the relationship between the Egyptian and UAE federations will remain an inspiring model of Arab sports cooperation based on mutual respect and unity of purpose in serving and developing the game.”

Before its start, the Egyptian Super Cup match witnessed a dazzling ceremony, which came in line with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum this month, where performances were presented that embodied the Pharaonic civilization and the pyramids, followed by popular singing performances. Singers Omar Kamal and Mahmoud Al-Laithi also performed a singing concert before the start of the match and between halftime, amid great interaction from the audience at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
