"K2 – K2" It showcases a model of the future city with smart technologies at Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Week

ABU DHABI, 10th November, 2017 (WAM) – K2, a company owned by the Abu Dhabi government and specialized in advanced autonomous systems and technologies supported by artificial intelligence, is participating for the first time in the “DRIFTx 2025” exhibition, which began today and continues until November 12 at Yas Marina Circuit, as part of the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Week, organized by the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Council.
The exhibition is a major platform to showcase the future of autonomous technologies in various fields, as it is not limited to experimental demonstrations, but rather provides a practical vision of what smart cities will look like in the near future in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
K2’s participation embodies this trend by presenting an integrated model of a system of autonomous systems covering the sectors of mobility, logistics services, public hygiene, hospitality and public safety, reflecting the role of smart technologies in reshaping urban life and transforming the concept of the “city of the future” into a tangible reality.
Sean Teo, CEO of K2, said that the company has passed the stage of experimental demonstrations and begun the stage of practical applications of independent technologies, and the DRIFTx 2025 exhibition is the ideal platform to showcase these applications.
He added that the company’s innovations include integrated automated cleaning teams, self-operating cafes, robotic taxis, and field command vehicles for fighting fires, all of which are examples of technologies that we will soon become accustomed to seeing in our cities, noting that these solutions will become part of the urban landscape in the near future as they contribute to enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and safety and redefine the relationship between humans and technology.
During the exhibition, the company will also display humanoid robots that perform daily tasks, as well as a fully autonomous farm that relies on limited human intervention, embodying the “K2” vision towards smarter and more sustainable cities where humans and machines integrate in harmony to build more efficient societies and a higher quality of life.
K2 is developing its technologies in the UAE, where experimental tests are being conducted under the supervision of the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Council and the Integrated Transportation Center.
For his part, Walid Al Balushi, Vice President of Strategy at K2, said that Abu Dhabi is the place where the future is embodied and automation represents a pivotal part of this future. By participating in the “DRIFTx 2025 – DRIFTx” exhibition within the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Week, the company is showcasing technologies ready to be an active part of the fabric of the city.
It is noteworthy that K2 is a company owned by the Abu Dhabi government and specializes in advanced technologies. It leads the new generation of innovation through the design and development of intelligent systems in the fields of robotics, autonomous mobility and performance sciences, with the aim of creating solutions that work with the highest levels of accuracy, flexibility and efficiency, and contribute to empowering humans and machines together to reach new heights.
