Targeting 20 million…a United Nations initiative to connect refugees digitally in several countries

The Commission implements United Nations for Refugees and the International Telecommunication Union, Initiative "Communication for refugees" To extend access to Internet and digital services in regions that host Refugees in Chad and other countries.
The initiative, which was launched in 2023 during the Global Refugee Forum, aims to ensure affordable access in all major refugee locations, aiming to connect 20 million refugees, displaced persons and hosts digitally by 2030.
The work of UN agencies in partnership with the public and private sectors within the framework of the initiative extends to many countries, including Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Egypt and Mauritania, and the programs are implemented according to the needs of Each country, identifying the areas most in need of expanding digital coverage.
