A new version of “Together We Walk” to support children with diabetes

Dubai, November 12 / WAM / The “Together We Walk” charitable initiative will return in its sixth edition to the Dubai Science Park next Saturday, launching again under the slogan of giving and community solidarity, with the aim of raising awareness of diabetes in children and collecting donations to support their treatment.
The initiative is organized by the TECOM Group in partnership with the Dubai Charitable Society and invites participants of all ages to walk or run for 3.5 km, or cycle for 17 km in support of its humanitarian goals.
The initiative aims to enhance community awareness of the importance of preventing and monitoring diabetes, in light of the presence of more than 85 million people living with the disease in the Middle East and North Africa region, according to data from the International Diabetes Federation, with the proceeds from the event allocated entirely to support the programs of the Dubai Charity Association.
Hef Zamzam, Executive Vice President of TECOM Group for Strategic Planning and Marketing and Chair of the Group’s Environmental, Social and Governance Practices Committee, said that the initiative embodies the spirit of social responsibility and encourages individuals to adopt healthy lifestyles, noting that this year’s edition supports the goals of the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision and the Dubai Social Agenda 33 by enhancing awareness of public health issues.
For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Dubai Charitable Society, expressed his pride in partnering with TECOM Group in organizing this event, stressing that the proceeds from the initiative will be allocated entirely to treating children with diabetes, in an embodiment of the values of giving and human solidarity that characterize the UAE.
