“Cairo Film Festival” in its 46th session…an opening that restores cinema’s luster and its status to humanity

On a night full of joy and beauty, and the sky of the Egyptian capital, Cairo, lit up with the lights of the seventh art, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, opened the activities of the forty-sixth session of the Cairo International Film Festival, headed by the great artist Hussein Fahmy, on the Grand Theater of the Cairo Opera House, in the midst of a majestic presence of stars and filmmakers from Egypt and the world, in a celebration that embodies the cultural and creative face. For Egypt.

During the opening, which will be held from November 12 to 21, the Minister of Culture honored the international Egyptian star Khaled El Nabawy by awarding him the Faten Hamama Award for Excellence, and the distinguished director Mohamed Abdel Aziz with the Golden Pyramid Award for Lifetime Achievement, in appreciation of their rich artistic careers and their contributions that have enriched the conscience of the public for decades. Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Chairman of the International Competition Jury, was also honored in celebration of his outstanding contributions to world cinema.

In an inspiring speech that carried the fragrance of thought and the warmth of art, the Minister of Culture said: “True art is not only displayed on a screen, but rather it is displayed in the conscience of all humanity.”

He added that the festival in its current session comes to elevate the status of man and embody Egypt’s message as a beacon of creativity. And enlightenment, stressing that cinema is not just moving images, but rather an energy of light that brings life to the imagination, and history has an everlasting presence.

In a speech full of symbolism, the minister recalled the scene of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb to embody the meeting of eternity and art, saying that the Grand Egyptian Museum— Which is about to open its doors to the world — The seventh art will give new energy to inspiration, and open endless horizons for creators of stories told in the language of beauty.

The Minister of Culture stressed that “Egypt, which restored its glory to the past through the Grand Museum, is restoring its bright image to the present,” noting that art— Like civilization — It restores to man its meaning and to life its voice, from Gaza to Africa, and from East to West, where human stories intersect and meet at one essence, which is dignity and hope.

The Minister concluded his speech by saying: "We promise you an exceptional version of the ancient Egyptian Film Festival, a version that elevates the status of the human being and places him at the heart of the issue, with films that tell about his concerns and dreams, and embody the message of art as a path to freedom and advancement. Humanitarian".
