"K2 – K2" and"Huawei" They collaborate to accelerate the development of smart and sustainable charging technologies in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, November 13, 2017 – K2, a company owned by the Abu Dhabi government and specialized in advanced autonomous systems and technologies supported by artificial intelligence, yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding with Huawei during the DriftX 2025 exhibition as part of the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Week.
The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation in the areas of smart charging infrastructure, innovation in green energy, and developing next-generation smart city technologies in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The partnership aims to support Abu Dhabi’s vision in the field of sustainable urban mobility and smart infrastructure, by integrating the K2 system for autonomous and smart solutions in the mobility sector with Huawei’s global expertise in the fields of smart energy and digital technologies.
Shawn Teo, CEO of K2, stressed that the cooperation with Huawei embodies a shared vision based on innovation, sustainability, and the adoption of smart technologies that contribute to creating a qualitative transformation in people’s way of life, transportation, and communication.
For his part, David Tao, CEO of Huawei in the UAE, said that signing the memorandum of understanding with K2 reflects the two companies’ shared commitment to innovation, excellence and sustainable growth, noting that cooperation will contribute to launching qualitative initiatives that will have a positive impact in the region.
For his part, Walid Al Balushi, Vice President for Strategic Affairs at K2, said that Abu Dhabi not only adopts future technologies, but also contributes to shaping them, pointing out that cooperation with Huawei aims to build an integrated system based on the concepts of innovation, independence, and sustainability, stressing that the future of smart cities begins with Abu Dhabi.
