Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Friday, that the wide participation rate in the recent legislative elections was “unprecedented and not expected.”
Al-Sudani said: – In a statement, about his meeting with a number of winning candidates within the “Reconstruction and Development Coalition.” During the recent elections, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported – “The recent legislative elections witnessed the return of confidence between the people and the political process through widespread and unprecedented participation in years, and the participation rate in the elections, which exceeded 56%, was not expected,” noting that international and regional institutions consider the percentage of citizens’ participation in the elections a standard that reflects popular confidence in the existing political process.
He added that the loss of people’s confidence in the elections was the biggest loss to the process. “Al-Sudani,” who is also president, confirmed that “the Iraqi people have presented their options and that the participation rate in the elections has risen.” “Coalition for Reconstruction and Development”, that the “Coalition” project He continues with his reform approach and meeting the aspirations of the Iraqis, noting that the government and the coalition were exposed to a misinformation campaign before the elections, and he expected continued skepticism about the list’s victory by about 1.4 million votes, a number that no previous political party had achieved.
He added that the coalition leaders will negotiate to form a parliamentary-governmental project capable of meeting the aspirations of the Iraqis and facing the current challenges.
He described "Al-Sudani" (The Reconstruction and Development Coalition) said that it is a national project that believes in development, and that the votes it received reflect the people’s confidence in it, indicating that this support poses a challenge to providing services that meet the ambition and confidence of the Iraqis.
