Family Development Foundation: The strength of a community is measured by the cohesion of its families and the cohesion of its social fabric
ABU DHABI, 17th November / WAM / His Excellency Ali Salem Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Family Development Foundation, stressed that the family represents the first building block in building society, the foundation upon which the renaissance and stability of nations is based, and the first school in which values and principles are instilled and national identity and belonging are instilled, pointing out that the strength of a society is measured by the interconnectedness of its families and the cohesion of its social fabric, and that investing in the family is an investment in the human being, and in the future of sustainable development that the UAE seeks, through… Cohesive families, capable of giving, and qualified to keep pace with the accelerating transformations with confidence and steadfastness towards the future.
His Excellency said in a statement on the occasion of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, to designate the year 2026 as the Year of the Family. These directives embody a deep vision that recognizes that the family is an integrated system that constitutes a source of strength, stability, and identity for the nation, and that caring for it is an investment in the people of the Emirates, and in the system of values that preserve the cohesion of society and support its stability, as this trend reflects the belief of the wise leadership that building the future begins with the conscious family capable of Raising generations that possess solid national and humanitarian values, and keep pace with the requirements of the times with a spirit of responsibility and belonging.
Al Kaabi pointed out that the Family Development Foundation, under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates,” President of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, gives the family a pivotal place in its strategic plans and development programs, in recognition of its vital role in building people and enhancing community cohesion, pointing out that the Foundation is working to develop sustainable initiatives in accordance with Her Highness’s vision that enhance family stability and quality of life, especially the elderly group. Citizens, within an integrated system based on monitoring, analysis, studies, and making the necessary recommendations to consolidate the status of the Emirati family as a role model for cohesion and social responsibility.
His Excellency explained that senior citizens represent an integral pillar of the Emirati family structure, and an extension of its values and authentic heritage. They are role models, a source of experience and wisdom, and the symbol of loyalty and giving. He stressed that attention to this important group in society embodies the highest meanings of righteousness and pride in the fathers and mothers who contributed to building the nation, in a way that enhances family bonding and community cohesion on which the vision of the “Year of the Family” is based.
