Al-Ittihad Women’s Association in Sharjah celebrates Tolerance Day with activities to promote community cohesion
Sharjah, 17 November / WAM / The Sharjah Women’s Union Society organized an event to celebrate World Tolerance Day, under the slogan “A Tolerant Family… A Cohesive Society”, with the participation of a number of the Society’s members and representatives of government and federal agencies. The forum included the presentation of specialized working papers that focused on the role of various segments of society in supporting and consolidating the values of tolerance as a way of life.
The first paper addressed the role of parents in instilling the value of tolerance in children, stressing the necessity of conscious education to prepare a generation capable of accepting others and interacting with them positively, while the second paper, entitled “Tolerance between Generations,” focused on the importance of enhancing communication between the elderly and young people to support community cohesion and build bridges of understanding and mutual respect. The third paper reviewed the role of women in transferring the values of tolerance from the family to the work environment, as a major partner in promoting societal harmony and achieving a positive impact in their family and professional surroundings.
In conjunction with the activities of the forum, the association opened an exhibition of products and creativity of girls with learning difficulties enrolled in vocational training programs within the association, where their works were displayed under the slogan “Tolerance opens doors…and keys that make a difference,” in an initiative aimed at empowering this group and highlighting their potential.
The attendees praised the initiatives put forward by the association to promote the values of tolerance and community cohesion, stressing the importance of continuing such activities that contribute to instilling lofty human values in society.
