America gives 2026 World Cup ticket holders priority in visa appointments

US authorities said that fans who have tickets to the 2026 World Cup will receive priority in scheduling US visa interviews.

US President Donald Trump revealed what is known as the “FIFA statement” at the White House after a World Cup task force meeting.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino, standing next to Trump at the White House, said: “If you have a ticket to the World Cup, you can get priority in obtaining an appointment in order to obtain a visa.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged fans to apply early, saying: “Our advice to everyone is: If you have a ticket for any match and you haven’t applied yet, you should do so as quickly as possible. Don’t wait until the last minute.”

Rubio added: “Your ticket is not a visa. It does not guarantee entry into the United States. What it guarantees is only a quick appointment.”
