المملكة: Before the fall vacation.. Education restricts absences with electronic monitoring and deducting a grade for each day – urgent
The Ministry of Education emphasized Absences are entered daily by the school administration on the approved platforms (Noor system – Madrasati platform), in accordance with what is stipulated in the rules of conduct and attendance for GeneralEducation.
They emphasized the importance of fully adhering to the procedures organized to evaluate students’ attendance during the academic year, especially with the approaching fall vacation, which begins next Friday, November 21, which usually witnesses a rise in absence rates before the official holidays.
Qualitative estimation
She explained Rules of conduct and perseverance: Student perseverance is evaluated according to precise standards that include the adoption of qualitative assessment in the first and second grades of primary school in verbal expressions characterized by accuracy and objectivity that reflect the level of the student’s perseverance, while (100) marks are allocated for perseverance from the third grade of primary school to the third grade of secondary school, with a relative weight assigned to the equivalent of five classes per week that are counted within the semester academic average.
Education stated that the rules confirm that the student is deprived of transfer if his percentage of unexcused absence exceeds (10%) during the academic year, so that the primary and middle school student is deprived of transferring to the next year, while the secondary school student is deprived of transferring to the next semester. She also stressed the need for the school administration to enter absences daily into the approved systems to ensure that records are documented to reflect the actual attendance of students.
The regulations also clarified that the excuse must be submitted by the student or his guardian within the specified statutory period, along with attaching evidence of this, and a period of three working days after the absence should be given to submit the excuse, with the possibility of accepting excuses after this period provided that the submission does not exceed ten working days, and granting the school the authority to extend admission until the end of the semester in the event of an acceptable justification supported by what is proven in the Noor system.
Deducting grades
The rules also include that the absence is evaluated daily by the school administration, and if the absence is not accepted as an excuse, one grade will be deducted from the attendance grade for each school day without an excuse. The attendance assessment is also recorded in a special field on the grade card for all stages, and is calculated within the semester academic average, and is considered an integral part of the grade sheet issued by the school.
Article (32) of the regulations also indicated a detailed list of acceptable cases of absence and permission, including sick leave with a report from the “Healthy” platform, visits to hospitals and health centers, various disaster cases such as fire, death of relatives up to the third degree, health accompaniment, visits to official bodies, and participation in local and international competitions, in addition to chronic health and psychological cases that the school evaluates in accordance with the approved controls, and what is determined by the rules and regulations related to child protection.
The Ministry of Education confirmed that adherence to these controls guarantees educational justice and supports the discipline of the educational process, calling on parents to monitor their children’s attendance and academic regularity during the days preceding the vacation, and not to allow unjustified absences in order to preserve the student’s interest and educational level.
