Dubai Airports: Application "Red carpet" Includes passengers arriving in Terminal 3 within two months

Dubai, November 19, 2017 – Dubai Airports has confirmed that the red carpet service, which has created a qualitative shift in check-in processes for departures at Dubai International Airport, will include passengers arriving through Terminal 3 within two months.

Majid Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports, said in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2025, that the “red carpet” completes procedures in a time ranging between 6 seconds and 14 seconds maximum, but most importantly, it does not serve only one traveler, but rather allows a group of up to 8 or 10 people to pass at the same time through the smart corridor, relying on biometric data that is processed in real time.

The red carpet corridor at Dubai International Airport is a smart service that is the first of its kind in the world, allowing travelers to pass through immigration procedures within a few seconds without the need to present any travel document and without stopping.

Al-Joker added: “We are constantly working to reimagine the traveler’s experience by integrating technology into operations, and raising the efficiency of travel procedures and productivity,” pointing out that biometric technologies have played a pivotal role in reformulating procedures and integrating or simplifying data, or even canceling some procedures completely.

He pointed out that a large part of the development is not directly visible to the traveler, such as the use of artificial intelligence to determine the positions and rotation of aircraft, measure their characteristics, and analyze operational data in real time, which helps operations teams make faster and more accurate decisions.

Al-Joker considered that the record results witnessed by Dubai Airport in the third quarter and since the beginning of the year in general are due to an integrated operational system, based on the efficiency of operations and teamwork for the One DXB community, in addition to the strength of tourism and economic demand in Dubai and the main markets.

He stressed that Dubai Airports expects strong traffic in December, in line with the UAE’s expectations of a record season, stressing the readiness of the work teams through flexible operational plans to deal with the expected peak, given that the airport has dealt with exceptional periods and frequent travel peaks.

He said that the numbers for the last quarter and expectations for the year are under review, but we expect that during the current year we will exceed the barrier of 95.2 million passengers.

Regarding Al Maktoum International Airport, Al-Joker said that the airport’s current operations are witnessing remarkable growth, as it handled about 910,000 passengers through more than 20 airlines in the first half of the year, with an expectation of reaching nearly one million passengers by the end of the year.

He stressed that the new design of the airport is in its final stages, and that tenders and partnerships are ready, explaining that the current building that travelers use today does not represent part of the new airport, which will be completely different in terms of shape, size, structure and capabilities.

Regarding the Dubai Airshow 2025, Al-Joker said that the exhibition is a platform for communicating experiences and introducing new innovations, including modern air mobility solutions, electric aircraft, and aircraft with vertical take-off.

He explained that Dubai Airports is participating in the Sustainability Alliance in partnership with dnata, Flydubai and other partners, with the aim of presenting practical solutions for using sustainable tools in aircraft handling, and relying on renewable energy in all ground operations.
